Visitation will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the First Separate Baptist in Christ Church, 25 Bixler Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227 from 10:00AM-12:00 Noon with the services to start immediately after. Burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Jimmy Douglas Britt, age 68, went to be with Christ on October 29, 2013. Jimmy was born on April 6, 1945 in Franklin, Kentucky but spent most of his life in Indianapolis. He was retired from IndyGo.
Jimmy was a minister and serving God was his passion. He was a man of principle and was known to practice what he preached. One of his favorite verses from the bible was “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
When he wasn’t studying and preaching the gospel, Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family, watching football and fishing. He also enjoyed taking care of his dogs and cats (many that were strays). He was kind and generous and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra, his sons Mark (Rebecca) and Mathew (Deborah), his grandchildren Shannon, Jeremiah, Joshua, Derek, and Brandon, his brothers Danny (Wanda), Johnny (Linda), and Steve (Maureen), numerous nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles (Hazel Clark, Gladys Walker, Elbert Britt, Rayburn Britt, Charlie Britt and Rachael Britt). He is also survived by friends and ministers from church who he greatly cherished.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jimmie and Kathleen and his sister Carol.

Mrs. Owensby told me about Pastor Britt’s passing. I am so saddened to hear the news. My prayers are with you Sandra and Shannon. I appreciated him even though I only met him a few times. I know you will miss him greatly. He left a wonderful legacy to all of his family and church friends. What a blessing to know he is with Jesus and you will see him again. Much love and prayers to you both!
